Today marks the last day of the 2023 Winter anime slate and overall, it’s been a thoroughly enjoyable, if not slightly overwhelming, season of excellent series.
Arguably one of the best new shows from the recent slate was Buddy Daddies, which is set to premiere its season 1 finale in just a few short hours on Crunchyroll.
Whilst Buddy Daddies season 2 has not yet been publicly confirmed to be in development, fans on social media are pleading with P.A. Works to renew the anime for a second adorable adventure.

Buddy Daddies season 2 renewal status explored
As previously noted, Buddy Daddies has not yet been renewed for season 2, and ahead of the episode 12 finale, the anime is in a rather unique spot when it comes to the chances of a second broadcast.
The majority of modern anime renewals are based on the availability of source material from an original manga or light novel series, as well as the popularity of the wider franchise. However, Buddy Daddies is actually an original production, meaning that there is no manga or light novel series that the series is adapting.
The good news is that Buddy Daddies is easily popular enough to warrant a second season, if the team at Studio P.A. Works opts to continue the anime. With the season finale set to air in just a few hours time, the series is scoring an impressive 7.89/10 on MyAnimeList, 7.8/10 on IMDB, 77% on Anilist, and 4.1/5 on Anime Planet.
Whilst these scores are by no means definitive proof that the series will be renewed for season 2, they are arguably high enough for P.A. Works to at least consider a second broadcast. In fact, aside from the fantastic Ya Boy Kongming series from Spring 2022, Buddy Daddies is Studio P.A. Works’ highest-scoring anime on MAL since 2018!
Moreover, fans on social media are already demanding that P.A. Works continue production into a second season, with one fan noting how “if we don’t get a second 2 of Buddy Daddies, I will cry for at least a week” with the majority of comments being “I will cry with you…”
One fan has a theory that, “I don’t see how they can resolve everything in one episode ‘apparently there are only 12 instead of the 13 announced), so either it will be super rushed, either that means a season 2! Obviously I think we can all agree that season 2 is a better option.”
Another user posted, “Buddy Daddies Spoilers! – Looking at the E12 title screen, it’s *very* interesting to me that they used the *title* font for it. No other ep. title has used the title font. I wonder if this is implying a 2nd season called Daughter Daddies? PLEASE!”
Overall, we will have to wait and see whether Studio P.A. Works purposefully leaves the door open for season 2 in the episode 12 finale; an open ending can give fans some real confidence that a second season will be produced, if the public pressure doesn’t get to the studio already.
